ELVES Automotive keeps on developing technologies to provide the best services and functions via various connecting ways between vehicles and smart phones. Generally there are a wire method such as USB and HDMI/MHL and a wireless method such as Bluetooth and WiFi. We hold Mirrorlink solution using USB and Full Mirroring solution using HDMI/MHL or WiFi.
ELVES Automotive’s G-Link, Full Mirroring technology using WiFi, enables users to watch the display of a smart phone in the full screen of infotainment system and enjoy rich sound through the car speakers. G-Link with excellent connectivity between users and infotainment system, remedies shortcomings of general smartphone connectivity systems by providing G-Link app. G-Link app for smart phones resolves these shortcomings which are mirroring without both-way control, not offering video view restriction while moving, and running only specific maps of smart phones. One of the great features of G-Link app is that users can add any apps in their smart phones into it. G-Link app will be continually updated and upgraded adding useful functions.
MirrorLink, a standard proposed by CCC(Car Connectivity Consortium), is a solution that translates contents of the user’s smartphone into the car’s center display and speakers. The smartphone acts as the server of Mirrorlink and the system as the client. Currently, there are not many smart phones supporting Mirrorlink and only some functions such as Music, Navigation and Call are supportable.
Apple’s Carplay features phone call, messages, music, maps, and voice-control using Siri, by connecting a car system to iPhone with USB cable. The Control of video is not provided due to safety issue. Carplay only supports Apple map and limited internet radio stations depending on the regions.
Google announced Android Auto at its I/O conference on Jun. 25th, 2014. Android Auto connects Android devices to a car with USB cable for users to use various functions of them. It is designed to be functional with the use of voice controls. Not only basic functions such as searching Navigation and calling but also advanced functions such as listening to music and writing email are voice-enabled, reducing distraction while driving. Some apps which might disrupt safe driving like game and video are not working.
HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) is a technology for connecting devices such as computers and Blue-day player to home HDTV, and MHL(mobile High-Definition Link) and DP (Displayport) are technologies for connection between smartphones and home TV or monitors. By using these technologies, a smartphone is linked to a head unit and all apps of the smartphone are displayed in the head unit. It supports only one-way control, so users cannot control the apps from the head unit.
